Civil and criminal court records are structured public documents containing verified identities, sworn testimony, asset disclosures, corporate relationships, and judicial findings. Analysts use them to establish facts that subjects cannot later deny, locate hidden assets through disclosure schedules, map associate networks through named co-defendants or witnesses, and cross-reference claimed histories against verified legal events. The evidentiary weight of court records is high: the content has been tested under oath and is subject to perjury consequences.
The method applies when verifying a subject's claimed professional or corporate history, tracing assets disclosed in divorce or bankruptcy proceedings, identifying associates named as co-defendants or guarantors, mapping a corporate structure through receivership documents, or establishing a conduct timeline from docket entries and judicial findings. A dismissed complaint is not a conviction, and a default judgment is not a tested finding. Each filing, individually, requires characterisation. The pattern across filings, corroborated against independent records, is not.
