What it is
WebMii is a free people-search aggregator that compiles a name or handle against publicly visible web pages, social profiles and images into a single presence report. It answers where a name shows up across the open web at a glance, functioning as a fast triage step before deeper manual investigation on any single platform.
A people-search aggregator does not hold private data of its own; it crawls and indexes publicly accessible pages, then scores and ranks matches against the queried name. That makes it fast but noisy, since common names generate large numbers of unrelated matches and the underlying index can lag behind the current state of the live web.
Investigators use aggregators like WebMii as a first-pass triage tool: a quick way to see the breadth of a name's public footprint before deciding which specific platforms or sources warrant a manual deep dive using the platform-specific techniques covered elsewhere in this series.

How do you use a people-search aggregator for OSINT triage?
Run the initial search, then treat every match as a lead to verify rather than a confirmed finding.
Free before paid. Aggregators vary in coverage and freshness; running more than one and comparing results catches gaps any single index has.
WebMii: Free, no registration required. Aggregates web mentions, images and social profile links for a queried name, with a visibility score indicating how prominent the name's footprint is. A separate paid companion app exists, but the web search itself carries no paywall or locked full report.
TinEye: Free tier. Reverse image search to verify or expand on any photo an aggregator surfaces, checking where else that specific image appears.
Google Images reverse search: Free, no login. A broader reverse image index than TinEye for cross-checking a photo's origin and other appearances across the web.
Wayback Machine: Free. Useful for checking historical versions of any page an aggregator surfaces, since the live page may have changed or been taken down since the aggregator last indexed it.

People-search aggregators only surface content that is already publicly indexed elsewhere on the web; using them for legitimate investigative, journalistic or due-diligence purposes is standard OSINT practice. Using aggregated results to harass, stalk or make contact with a private individual outside a legitimate purpose is against most aggregators' terms and, in many jurisdictions, unlawful. |
Enter the full name into WebMii and review the visibility score and initial result list. A very low score often indicates either a limited public footprint or a name too common for the aggregator to disambiguate meaningfully.
Add a known disambiguating term, such as a location, employer or middle name, to narrow results. Common names will otherwise return a mix of unrelated individuals that require manual filtering.
Check any images the aggregator surfaces against the target's known appearance where available, and note the source page for each image rather than treating the aggregator's own thumbnail as the primary source.
Run any relevant photo through TinEye and Google Images reverse search. This frequently surfaces additional source pages and can reveal whether an image has been reused or misattributed.
Click through to the original page for every result treated as significant. Aggregator summaries can be stale or misattribute a match; the primary source is the actual evidence, not the aggregator's excerpt.
When a live page no longer matches what the aggregator described, check the Wayback Machine for a historical snapshot closer to the aggregator's last crawl date to understand what was actually indexed.

What false positives affect people-search aggregators?
Aggregation across a wide, uncurated index produces a specific and common set of errors.
Common-name collision: Aggregators frequently merge results from multiple unrelated individuals who share a name, presenting them as a single consolidated profile. Verifying check: Check for internal consistency across the results, such as a location or employer that contradicts other known facts about the target, which is a strong signal of a merged, incorrect profile.
Stale indexing shows outdated information as current: An aggregator's crawl date can lag significantly behind the live web, showing an old job, address or social profile as though it were the current state. Verifying check: Cross-check any specific detail against a more recently updated source, such as the person's current LinkedIn profile, before treating the aggregator's summary as current.
Visibility score is not a measure of significance or credibility: A high visibility score simply means many pages mention the name; it says nothing about whether those mentions are accurate, relevant or about the correct individual. Verifying check: Treat the visibility score as a triage signal for how much manual verification work lies ahead, not as a finding in itself.
Aggregator-hosted image thumbnails can mislabel the source: An image shown alongside a name is not always confirmed to depict that person; some aggregators associate images based on proximity on a source page rather than confirmed identification. Verifying check: Trace every image back to its original source page and confirm the caption or context actually identifies the person before treating it as a verified photo of the target.
Chain of custody: Aggregator results reflect a snapshot of an index that changes independently of your investigation, and the underlying source pages can be edited or removed at any time.

Follow through and independently archive every primary source page treated as significant.
Record the aggregator's crawl or last-updated date where displayed.
Save reverse image search results and their source URLs separately from the aggregator's own output.
